NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH IN OKLAHOMA
The new generation of Native Americans struggle to maintain their native traditions in Oklahoma. Most tribes in Oklahoma live in all American surroundings, eat American food and attend American schools and colleges. Some have lost their tribal language and yet young Native Americans try each in their own way to maintain some traditions. Encouraged by their parents and their tribal communities they participate in traditional dances, ceremonies and volunteer at cultural preservation programs and in one particular case: pass on an almost extinct language to toddlers.
